Date Night

Last night Nick and I went to see The Artist at gold class (thanks to mum who gave us a voucher for Christmas). I've wanted to see The Artist for awhile, the idea of a silent movie in this day and age fascinates me but when it won the Oscar award for best film I was very surprised that a movie in black and white which is almost completely silent could cater to such a large audience. from the acting to the music even just the subtle things that really made this movie so authentic and true to the early silent films era is what really captured me. I fell in love with the two main characters, Jean Dujardin who comes off with such charm and quirkiness and Berenice Bejo who has such elegance and beauty with a real sweetness. There were moments where I wanted to cry and others where I was laughing out loud. I loved this movie, every bit of it.

Nick's Birthday on Instagram

This post is a little to a lot late as Nick's birthday was on the 6th of February but he had a really awesome day and I captured just a little bit of it on my Iphone to share to the Instagram world and now the Blogger one.

It started off the night before when we went out for dinner at an Indian restaurant with our group of friends to celebrate not only Nick's birthday but our good friend Dale's birthday which was a few days earlier, here's an action shot of the two drinking water.

In the morning I made Nick the most wonderful Vegan breakfast, although it was impossible it eat it all, he had scrambled tofu, toast, hash browns, stuffed mushroom, grilled tomato, lentil patty and tofu whites muffin and a side of baked beans.

Here's one of the the birthday presents I gave Nick, a handmade Finn hat from the Cartoon Network show we are both obsessed with, Adventure Time, he looks super cute wearing it :)

And lastly the Vegan cake I baked him which was delish :)

Later that night as we were going to bed Nick said to me that he's had the best birthdays since he's been with me, I love him.

Back to the Future

Photographer Irina Werning started this amazing photo project she's entitled 'Back to the Future', where she recreated images almost perfectly to capture the exact same photo from many years earlier. It's increadably interesting to see how people have changed and aged and how extrodanary well she's matched the previous photo. I just had to share this with you, it truly is wonderful.

Check out the rest of her Back to the future 1 and 2 series at her website here.

Mixtape

What I've been listening to

Mixtape #1 by Nicolekelly on Grooveshark

Moonrise Kingdom

I can't wait until this movie hits the big screen. I'm always looking forward to the next Wes Anderson flick, since most of his movies make my top ten favorites, I will be expecting greatness. Now Moonrise Kingdom is the next contender in my top ten list, starring Bill Murray (of course), Edward Norton (my favorite), Bruise Willis, Jason Schwartzman and more. Anyway here's the trailer so you can join in on my excitement :)

If Wes Anderson is an unfamiliar name to you please do yourself a favor and checkout The Darjeeling Limited, Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, to name a few.
